So I'm thinking of a monk build that might have a chance in some end game areas solo e.g. the BC (except for the occasional auto-fail on 1 ). Here's what I've come up with: DWARF (Lawful Good) STR 18 (30) DEX 13 CON 15 (16) INT 12 WIS 8 CHA 6 1: MONK Toughness 2: MONK 3: MONK Weapon Focus Quarterstaff 4: MONK CON+1 5: MONK 6: MONK Dodge 7: MONK 8: MONK STR+1 9: MONK Mobility 10: MONK 11: COT 12: COT STR+1; Imp Crit Greatsword; Imp Crit Unarmed Strike 13: COT 14: COT Weapon Focus Unarmed Strike 15: MONK Great Fortitude 16: MONK STR+1 17: MONK 18: MONK Blind Fight 19: MONK 20: MONK STR+1 21: MONK Epic Skill Focus Discipline 22: MONK 23: MONK 24: MONK STR+1; Epic Skill Focus Hide 25: SHADOW DANCER 26: COT 27: COT Epic Skill Focus Move Silently; Epic Weapon Focus Unarmed Strike 28: COT STR+1 29: COT Epic Weapon Focus Quarterstaff 30: COT Epic Fortitude 31: COT Epic Prowess 32: COT STR+1 33: COT Great Strength I 34: COT 35: COT Epic Toughness I 36: COT STR+1; Great Strength II 37: COT 38: COT 39: COT Epic Toughness II; Great Strength III 40: MONK STR+1 Skill Points: Discipline 43; Hide 43; Move Silently 43; Tumble 40; Open Lock 1, Heal (or whatever) 10 STATS: Base Attack: 26 Unarmed AB: 40, 37, 34, 31, 28, 25 AC: 23 HP:556 Fortitude: 42 Reflex: 34 Will: 29 SR: 31 WIDGETS: Puissant (Focussed Unarmed, Unfocussed Greatsword), Drones, Monk (to give extra uses of Empty Body and Wholeness of Body), Defence (or Extra Puissant or whatever) Finale Reward: Monk Amulet - for extended Empty Body and greater heal from Wholeness of Body. Should get enough Hide/MS with gear to sneak past most end game melees or take them out with hit 'n' run tactics, have enough damage to take on casters (damage is a bit weak) and should be able to get fort save to mid 50's, but anyways, any feedback is welcome - feel free to rip it apart!

Maybe tweak it towards unfocused Q-Staff, shall the "next-up-to-improve" on Monk UAB become reality :-)
Could add more COT pre-epic for 1 extra AB and more pain leveling up …. would also give you some pre-epic feats (saves? power attack and grt cleave?) instead of the Epic toughness ones for 20hp each...

Thanks Ape, yeah the focussed/unfocussed weapons are just my personal preference with the current set-up - unfocussed greatsword for the relatively big crits, but I'd seriously consider switching imp crit unarmed to imp crit quarterstaff if quarterstaff got the monk AB progression and was able to use flurry. I'll have a play with the level split and see what the difference is; 14/6 maybe, 12/8 is a popular variant.
. . . Ok, 14/6 does nothing, 12/8 gives 1 more AB but you lose 40 HP and 1 will save (which is no matter since you have Perfect Self), other saves are unchanged. Pre-epic extra feat-wise, not sure Power Attack or Great Cleave are that useful on this build. You definitely want to land the first blow, so -5 AB from power attack compromises that. I think Great Cleave works best with Dev Crit - so not an option on 3T. Incidently, I've seen another server where Dev Crit has been changed to add 30% more damage to a crit, instead of save-or-die - wonder if that could be done here?
If you go for the 12/8 split, I'd take Luck of Heroes at 1 and probably take Skill Focus discipline or Stealthy later. Maybe consider Improved Initiative for landing that first attack (and possible KD) from stealth, but I'm not sure how well that feat works within the NWN engine.

Looks an interesting alternative to make use of a redundant game feat here on 3T.

Could also do this for -1 Disc -1 STR Dmg -40HP in trade for +3 EB and 11 pos dmg rather than +2 EB and 6 pos dmg, so unfocused AB will be unchanged but with one extra pierce lvl. Only one unfocused wep that way but seemed to be the plan in the first place (also pushed SD feats to end of pre-epic and pulled ahead blind fight)

That's a nice build, Ape. I started something similar in terms of level spread and pushing SD back to 29 - might need to consider rebuilding if I want to add overwheming crit. It would be a trade-off between 1 more AB (STR +Epic Prowess), 4 disc, +1 to all saves vs extra damage Overwhelming Crit feats contribute to unfocussed damage.
How are you calculating the positive damage? According to Gniht's guide your build should get unfocussed positive damage of 14: 2 (from WF) + 2 (Imp Crit) + 4 (EWF) + 6 (Overwhelming Crit)? AB would be +3 as you said.
The build I started only gets 8: 2 (from WF) + 2 (Imp Crit) + 4 (EWF) with +2 AB? Also +1 Damage from STR so net gain going with Overwhelming Crits would be +5?

Using Unarmed or Ranged it is 8 Points, divided by 4 rounded down = +2 AB and 8 pos dmg 14 Points, divided by 4 rounded down = +3 AB and 14 pos dmg
Using Melee 8 Points = +2 EB and 6 pos dmg (as EB adds the equivalent to phys dmg to your wep, ofc enemies with phys DR may negate) 14 Points = +3 EB and 11 pos (14/4 rounded down = 3, remainder of Points is added as pos dmg)

Thanks Ape. I posted my previous reply after a nightshift, then figured it out after I'd posted but was too tired to edit my post. I'm used to unarmed, totally forgot with a melee weapon your using EB and not AB. I think I'm going to remake and go with your version - that extra damage is swinging it for me

Does a third weapon with Improved critical add on to the puissant? (this build has IC GS, Unarmed, Handaxe), or is that a typo? Im getting puissant bonus of: WF +1/2 IC +1/2 EWF +2/4 OC +3/6 That is +7/14. Where does the 8 points come from, no oc option?

Yes, that's right. Taroc's original post had 8 points unfocused, my proposal had 14 due to the addition of OC

I wanted to use an unfocussed GS but OC gives a significant damage boost to puissant, so 2 IC's for the 2 x OC in unarmed and handaxe (which I'd never use) and then IC in GS. In the end, I went with a modified version of Ape's build.

Sorry, missed that part of the question. Yes, you need 3rd IC for your unfocused weapon, so overhwelm crit just adds to puiss points without making your prime weapon focused

Could this be viable with kamas? Presumably the ambidexterity and dual wield feats would need incorporating?

I didn't build either of these in the end, and the one I was making I stopped at around level 36 because I didn't find him fun to play. The idea was to use hit and hide tactics - so the great sword was for high damage even on a non-crit, with a decent chance of a crit - basically as much damage as you can deal in a few hits before re-hiding. I wouldn't build this for a kama user as I'd want to get in the full 10 attacks, the low AC and non-crit immunity leaves you vulnerable if you don't either run or re-hide after the first couple of swings.
