Been back in three towns about a month now, seems pretty much the same, Dwarves still keep mainly to themselves in their Mountain halls. Elves in the wild forests near Arakan not too welcoming of strangers, still far too many Bandits, Goblins and Orcs and other monsters around the cities and far too few guards. It’s a wonder how anyone survives the travel between the towns, but they do somehow, mainly brave adventurers looking for fame, fortune or just to etch out some sort of living in this harsh landscape.
Talking about harsh landscapes made my way up into the Mountains looking for some monk that went missing. Damn cold, bitterly cold up there with giants close to 50 foot high wielding huge long swords, enough metal to keep the smiths of Fer happy for some time. Hard to get a fire started when you have snow and ice coming in sideways at you as the howl of the winter wolves echoes around the peaks. Managed to find the man, crazy, wants to stay there, I also snuck into the Ice Queens palace had a good look at her and her guards, not sure I want to go back again too soon unless I have some powerful friends with me.
Found my way back into the house in the dell, still full of rogues, heh not that I can judge, in some ways it’s good to know they are still there, never know when I might need their aid.

I have been walking the gloomy paths of the underdark lately and can’t say I like it too much. It’s not the dark, I like the dark, all the better to remain hidden, unseen, a quiet whisper slipping through the shadows. No it’s the feeling of being compressed the immense amount of rock and stone ready to collapse upon you at any moment and the silence of stone broken by the trickle drip of water leaking between rocks. Then the sudden clash of steel, the shouts of battle in languages unknown as the deep Dwarves and Drow do battle and then back to silence again like it never happened. Don’t like either of them and some of them Drow are damn sneaky bastards, almost as good at me at hiding and skulking in the dark. Well ok maybe some are better than me, but I get them in the end, I always do…….........
Soon as I find this so called Deep Dwarf freedom fighter I’m getting the hell out of here.

It’s good to feel the wind on my face again and the smell of fresh salt sea air as the ship I am on crests the waves. Far too long in the under dark searching for that Deep Dwarf, I would have given up if not for Sid being a friend from way back and I like the idea of everyone getting together and sorting out their differences so to speak, I just can’t see it happening, far too long at each other’s throats to change now, but good luck to them for trying.
Only good thing about being down there in the under dark was I made a couple of new friends. A sturdy Dwarf named Jav who is as strong as he is loud and an interesting character self-titled the Amalgamation, a bow using spell caster of some prowess. With their aid I was able to find out more about this mysterious portal that leads to different place? Time? Who knows, must be a good reason why it is so hidden, anyway turns out the Drow had a staff that is one of the components to open this portal. We made our way to a temple deep within their territory fiercely guarded by bow maidens of the Drow in black robes with terrible spell casters. Even with my brave companions help I fear we would have fallen there but for the divine intervention of someone or something? My memory is cloudy of the incident although I am sure I briefly felt the cold embrace of death before being brought back to fight again. We have the staff and in time we must travel to the ancient Elven city of Caendryll and who knows what horrors we will face when we get there.
But for now I sail to the Isle of storms seeking more answers.

Couldn’t make it to the Isle, So I went back and paid a visit to the Ice Queen, cold women but her blood was warm as it spilled out, last few drops falling to the ground. Surrounded by guards, heh didn’t help her much when my knife found her throat. To big, to slow, danced around them from shadow to shadow slicing here, stabbing there. Eventually they all fell and I found an interesting piece of magic, part of the orb that mad old hermit was going on about, it joins up with the piece I got in Caendryll. The less I think about that place the better, still get shivers thinking about it and every time I see a spider. Used to like watching them busy making a web, catching things, now I make sure to step on them when I get the chance, never look at them the same again. Time to get a move on

Feels like it's been a while since I felt the sun on my face and the sand beneath my boots. Thing about the three towns is that it is nice and green because it always seems to be raining, makes for good farming I suppose. Not this place though hotter and dryer than the fer forge just add sand.
Different people, different sounds and smells as far removed from the three towns as you could be I guess, probably why it costs so much for those strange sailors to sail here.
Sid seems excited though more contacts better chance at peace, seems like pretty much the same story here though different people fighting over different land. Not that it's my concern, look after number one is all I care about, try and make some money, or find it, maybe even take it. Get enough and I might even settle down. Get a nice place somewhere round Wheaton do a little farming of my own or pay someone to do it for me. Hhmmmm still a few adventures to go before that happens.
Now where did I see see them selling that chicken on a stick?
