I found a +8 greataxe 1d12 vs constucts and does decent DC 25 fear. So decided it looks good to use vs golems.
Added electric and acid to it and someone traded me +9 eb stone that we found in a party together so i can help out better in golems with them.
I added the +9 eb stone and off we went. At first in the new maps we got slaughtered but figured out to use the long corridors and not push out too far.
We destroyed 6 orbs but didnt get to see the boss as ran out of time. We will try again tonight to complete it. I heard that you only need to destroy 6 and then can go downstairs to face the boss.
So today i noticed the great axe stats says +8 attack and +1 enhancement bonus. The +9 eb stone turned into +1 damage and no to hit bonus. w.t.f.
After some asking players advice it seems a few people on the server know about this odd trait. I always thought Attack stones were for range and enhancement bonus stones for melee weapons. But its more complicated that that.
DM finally logged in and the answer was no help will be given. Tough luck. You should check your weapons if they are attack or enhancement bonus.
I asked what if i used my +9 attack stone and the rest of my eb stones to take it up to +9 attack and +8 eb as that's as far as i can go.
An evil penguin then appeared as it didnt know what would happen.
So in went the eb stones to the forge one by one and the trash can got hit. The damage went up +1 each time. But not any to hit bonus. Just a bit more damage.
On trying to add the +9 attack stone the forge said it would not add to the axe as its not ranged.
So that was that.
But the penguin wanted to know what would happen if a +9 eb stone was added.
Put that on the axe.
My guess just +1 more damage. a waste of a stone and so the axe is junk really.
But the forge at IoS instead said its not magical enough. hmm..
So a few moments later the evil penguin did something and a better forge for the gods appeared next to the one thats at IoS.
If you asked me it looks exactly the same as the other one thats already there.
Anyhow, in went the +9 eb stone and no surprise +1 more damage..
But the player stats showed +1 more ab from 49 to 50 and on hitting the trash can it confirmed the extra to hit +1 its 50 ab from the player char.
The magic of the forge is a curiously odd thing.
Now I dont know if this strange +8 AB and +9 EB great axe bypasses damage reduction as a true +9 weapon. That's really the value of using it at +9 weapon.
I guess have to test it somehow. If you do know how to test that would be good to let me know. I dont have any chars with +8, +9 or +10 ac armour.
The penguin warned we dont know what happens if you go to +10 eb. Maybe it wont work. I guess ill have to find that stone and test it out. But is it really worth taking the risk?? not so sure about that.
