Thought I’d make a new thread to spare Findells update post getting flooded.
Gambling – a shady npc from the Den of Thieves selling item gems for a high price Cosmetics – we already sort of have this with the skins in Wheaton. What if you could pay a smith to change the appearance of the armour/helmet you’re wearing. Player Storage Chest – let that poor 8str wizard leave the heavy full plate he’s carrying at home. Stat boosts items - (not sold on this) Armor/Weapon Upgrades - (not sold on this)
What do other games do in end game as a gold sink that works ? Any game with a lifespan of Three Towns is going to run into problems with economy and power creep. I’m no dev, I can throw ideas out but I’ve no idea how practical any of them are to implement in neverwinter.

Look at any persistent online game. Primary currency is never the long run sought after asset. It almost always is going to be items, cosmetics, quality of life enhancements. Not sure why there "needs" to be a gold sink IMO. For the most part the key is finding the desirable/rare drop only items that you then augment a current build or make a new toon for the sexy new drop you found. Gold is simply a pay wall for winking and reducing the quality of life/convenience factors. As mentioned above what is typical gold sinks: -housing -storage slots expansion -purchasing rare items -custom crafting -cosmetics -additional character slots -converting to a different rare currency that is used for purchasing rare items Its a pretty standard formula out there...because it works. Players are looking to have something to aim for, and generally that is going to be to increase there toons, capabilities, power, looks, wealth and grandeur. Simply removing wealth from death or failure in a task simply makes many players not want to risk , explore take chances and that is the allure for many in these types of games IMO. Ultimately having a game be fun is what we are looking for, hopefully we find ways for this to continue to evolve here. One critical piece to that though is to ensure that the player base's voice is heard. Its not about something being unanimous, and not just the loudest voice being heard, but certainly that the majority is being taken into account. Server won't be much fun if 3-4 people love the rules/guidelines and everyone else despises them. My 2cents

Dont know any other persistent game, but what do we have here compared to all those other games (or should I say Apps), only purpose of which is to empty your purse.
What we got here is 1 a brilliant game to start with 2 a great community 3 a fantastic dev team (team is a little overstated) 4 it is for free, and people are spending their private time to keep it alive
We are all humans (if you know what I mean) but please reflect on the above. A little more humbleness would serve us well, as without 3 and 4, this thing would be gone; and 1 would just be yet another NWN server. and 2 nowhere to be found again
EDIT: bit of a hijack, apologies, its more like a general comment about the recent discussions

If I offended at all was not the intent. Written communication is hard to get tone across at times. I thoroughly enjoy the server and agree it has had an enormous amount of time, energy, effort put into over the years and currently.
By no means did I mean to belittle that. I’m just hopeful for the future that the continued evolution considers the opinions of the player base as adjustments continue to be made.

Argh, sorry, mate. this is exactly what I did not intend, wasn't about your post, that's why I said hijack.
Proposals are all fine :-)

I mean there is the gambling option, although just once per server reset in Sendauntra still. Last time I checked, it was about 200k gold a key and I got a 180k item back. The main problem is that most toons are not able to sustain or even get to that place with the current gear (no randoms), widget (no drone/clone) and class (barb rage, PM summons etc.) nerfs.
Maybe move it somewhere else? The price adjusts itself so that is fine, and maybe not make it just once per server reset.
P.S.: Not to have a misunderstanding, I really like for example that drones are gone, but 3T is much harder now as a consequence.

Not so much an endgame idea but add a shop for all levels for dyes and armour/helm/shield/cloak customisation. While I like that Chree added both dyes and customisation for the looks of gear, I think he missed a trick by not just making it something you can pay gold for.

All dyes are already available at shifter's cave. And yes for items parts customization, but for randoms only. We will work on reintroducing them soon
