Why was the faction system dropped anyways? Too complicated to maintain or what? I, personally, really enjoyed the system as it encouarged a certain level of RP on the server as well as PvP. It was fun to defend against or hunt down your enemy factions. Please bring it back!

Are you talking about the guilds? If it's the guilds they were player driven and the members left, including the guild masters. Support for guilds needs adding/updating to the mod but I don't know if you missed the recent news, we've lost our lead developer so currently we have a development team of one person, Findell, and a very long list of things to fix and add to the mod. Guilds coming back will likely not be a high priority.
If you meant the old system where if you killed enough player characters or certain NPCs you were marked as an outlaw, I think guilds replaced these a long time ago when previous admin decided to bring in PvP rules and soften the server.

Yep, agree with Taroc. The server is currently running an old version of 3T. And the initial plan is (or was at least) to get the server close to how it was going before the 1.69 version crashed for good. And then to improve it
This will take a lot of time for Findel and the DM team to make decisions and to actually dev them.
Factions or guilds sound fun, but how many players would they add value for? How much time would it take to have them implemented? Not sure if they would be worth it but maybe it's something that could be looked into when the other enhancements are done.

I understand. Would it be possible to take up the mantle of Guild Leader for one of the existing Guilds that are already a part of the server? That way there's no additional work that needs to be done to add value to the server.

When we started our collaboration with Chreelister we agreed to rework the DB system. Guilds use some DB tables that I haven't migrated yet. It's not hard, it just takes time and a lot of testing.
In the meantime, if anyone interested, what I can do is grant access to the guild shops without requiring membership in the guild.
